Wall Yoga

Wall Yoga is a series of Iyengar style asanas practiced using a rope device installed on a wall. The idea behind Wall Yoga is to use straps attached to hooks on a wall that combine with gravity, allowing yogis to experience vertical practice and explore postures in a totally new way.

What is wall yoga ?

The rope wall was first developed and refined by B.K.S. Iyengar, according to him a rope wall can be a valuable tool for students who are stiff, or having difficulty running some asanas independently.
For example, many novice yoga students are not always ready for inversions, but a rope wall helps facilitate the process by making the student more stable and secure. Like the principles of Iyengar yoga based on alignment, the straps help students become aware of the orientation of their body. With an emphasis on anatomy, students will experience greater opening of certain areas while strengthening and toning their bodies.
